I know you just heard from me a few days ago and a new email so soon should not be interpreted with alarm. Instead, my intent is to provide some additional perspective on a December we all hope to soon forget.

I continue to believe that this market downturn, which began in early October and intensified in December, is not based on fundamentals of the economy or corporate profitability. If you’d like a historical perspective on the ten worst months of the market, take a look at this short article. It is authored by an analyst that I follow closely (and that tends to be correct in his views). Is what’s happening in the economy and the world this month, on par with the other nine “worst” months?
